Research & Innovation Department

The role of the Research Department is to organize a programme of economic research and analysis aimed at providing the Authority with the necessary economic and statistical information to plan investment and export promotion activities and be able to target particular sectors/industries for both Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) attraction and export development. The key activities of the Department can be summarized as follows:

• The provision of comprehensive research to identify specific investment opportunities for FDI attraction as well as potential markets for locally manufactured products
• To gather intelligence and conduct research to sustain and enhance the competitiveness of Botswana
• To liaise with other institutions and agencies nationally and internationally to ensure that BEDIA keeps up to date with trade and international investment trends
• To compile information relating to investment in, and exports from Botswana

This information is useful to both BEDIA and other institutions mandated with the promotion of trade and economic development.
