Educated Workforce

StudentsThe Government of Botswana has invested a lot of resources in the development and growth of the education system inline with the country's Vision 2016 pillar of "An Educated and Informed Nation". The standard of public education in Botswana is considered to be comparable to international standards.

Botswana's total investment in knowledge (including investment in public and private spending on higher education) has been increasing at an annual rate of 4% over the past decade. In 2005, the education sector was allocated 8% of the total development budget which shows the level of importance given to the sector.

In terms of literacy rates, Botswana has literacy rates of about 80% which is above most SADC countries.
